Fiji Golf
Fiji’s year-round warm climate and gorgeous tropical surroundings make it an excellent location for golfing. The numerous golf courses on these islands boast lush rainforests and clear blue aquatic scenery, plus many resorts offer private courses as well. The championship golf courses and competitions also make Fiji a golfer’s paradise.
18-Hole Courses in Fiji
Fiji offers some great 18-hole public courses:
- Nadi Airport Golf Club is right next to Wailoaloa Beach and the Nadi International Airport runway, plus it offers lovely mountain views. On the property, the club pro shop rents out and sells a wide variety of equipment, and at the clubhouse you can go to the bar or sit in the scenic beachside dining area. Driving range and pro lessons are also available, while club competitions are held here every Saturday.
- Denarau Golf Club in the Nadi area offers beautiful tropical views of coconut trees, mountains and the sea. It is quite expensive to play here at $150 a round, though a compulsory golf cart is included. A pro shop, clubhouse with a bar and restaurant, brand club and golf shoe rental, and golf range and professional lessons are also available here. In addition, the course is only a few minutes’ walk away from the Sheraton Resort.
- Fiji Gulf Club in Suva is the course that many of the city’s residents go to. It tends to be busy on the weekends and often hosts competitions. A club hire, pro shop, restaurant and bar are available on the property. The fee to play here is very inexpensive at $20 a round.
- Pearl Championship Golf Course and Country Club offers tropical rainforest scenery, along with clear blue lagoons on many of the holes. Green fees here are quite cheap at $24-$47 for 18 holes and $18-$24 for 9 holes. Facilities on the property include a prop shop, restaurant, bar and lounge.
Resorts
Many of Fiji’s exquisite resorts also offer golfing as part of its list of activities. Courses here are often private, so you can enjoy a relaxing day of golfing without the crowds.
- Shangri-La’s Fijian Resort on the private Yanuca Island is set amongst lovely palm tree, beach and lagoon scenery. This 9-hole course was designed by British Golf Opening winner Peter Thompson.
- Koro Sun Resort on Vanua Levu is a challenging 9-hole course surrounded by the beauty of rainforests, coconut trees, ponds and creeks, plus it even has its own beachfront and marina. The 7th and 16th holes here are especially unique, as you cannot see the green from the tee.
- The 9-hole course at the Naviti Resort located on the Coral Coast on Viti Levu is situated amongst lush tropical gardens, white sandy beaches and coconut palms. This short but beautiful course offers fantastic scenery and landscape of the resort grounds.
